More comfort and higher safety 17/08/2007
Iceland Excursions – Gray Line Iceland uses the SAGA Vehicle Tracking System to increase the comfort and safety of its passengers.

The travel agency Iceland Excursions - Gray Line Iceland has just finished installing the SAGA Vehicle Tracking System in all its vehicles, which now amount to ove 40. The company operates one of the youngest fleets in Iceland and the vehicles have a capacity of between 9 and 71 passengers. The work scope of Iceland Excursions – Gray Line Iceland has developed and changed during the last few years and nowadays the sale and operation of day tours to foreign visitors has become a big part of the business of the company. Around 40 thousand passengers have joined our Day Tours so far this year. The company has been leading in the inctroduction of new technologies on the Icelandic Day Tour Market within the last 10 years. Next year the company will be offering a total of 36 different Day Tours starting out from Reykjavík.

“Punctuality and good service are key factors in providing excellent service and that is why we chose the SAGA Vehicle Tracking System for the management of our coaches”, says Thorir Gardarsson, Sales and Marketing Director of the company. “With this system we can guarantee the highest safety and comfort to our passengers. With the Driving Behaviour System one can monitor the driving behaviour of each individual driver and can easily detect deviations from proper driving behaviour parameters. This guarantees a more comfortable and an even better tour for our customers. We have been using an older version of this system for years  and have had been very happy with it. The new system is a revolutionary Vehicle Tracking Systems as the control centre can monitor the location of each individual vehicle on a 24 hour basis, which leads to even better resource management and eventually in lower costs.”

After the introduction of the new system, Iceland Excursions – Gray Line Iceland now has an even better possibility to monitor its fleet. The company is rapidly increasing in size from year to year and more demands are being made in regards to safety and quality to meet the demands and the needs of travel industry customers.

ND Iceland offers the SAGA Vehicle Tracking System and more and more companies in Iceland, which run a car and coach fleet, are using the system. Not only companies like Iceland Excursions – Gray Line Iceland, which have a big fleet of vehicles that have to be managed, use the system. More and more smaller companies are cooperating with ND with a reduction  of operating costs, better service and increased production in mind.
