Zora Young and Ronnie Baker Brooks at the Reykjavík Blues Festival April 3rd – 6th
The young American blues star, Ronnie Baker Brooks, is among this year´s guests at the Reykjavík Blues Festival. Brooks will be accompanied by his own band. At last year´s blues festival the Chicago diva Zora Young was one of the main headliners and she will be coming back to Iceland this year. Both Ronnie Baker Brooks and Zora Young are nominees for this year´s International Blues Foundation Award. The Festival will be held the week before Easter, from April 3rd – 6th. The Norwegian Blues duo, Jolly Jumper & Big Moe, will be playing at the Reykjavík Blues Festival for the first time. They play the guitar and harmonica and their style comes straight from tradition, as it was at the beginning of the last century.
Icelandic guests at this year´s Reykjavík Blues Festival include: KK, Andrea Gylfadóttir, Lay Low, and Kentár, as well as the Blue Ice Band and others. The Reykjavík Blues Festival places emphasis on introducing new talent and as usual there will be a range of new, young artists performing at the festival.
Concerts will be held at the Nordica Hotel on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm, and on Good Friday hymns will be sung at a concert held at the Fríkirkju church in downtown Reykjavík.
In celebration of the Reykjavík Blues Festival, the nightclub Domo (on Þingholtsstræti) will open each night for Blues festival guests at 10pm, after the concerts have ended where the blues jam and up and coming artist will perform and some legends to.
