AH33  Northern Lights Mystery 15 Sep 2012 -
15 Apr 2013

Highlights:
  • Search for the Northern Lights

Tour Description:

Join us for a mysterious trip, on a dark winter night. Any time from the onset of autumn darkness until the light nights of spring we can witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays; the phenomenon which we call the Northern Lights. Far from the glow of the city lights, we hunt for the elusive Aurora Borealis – known as the Northern Lights. Together we will search for these magnificent auroras. On a clear night, we may be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights swirling in a wild and carefree dance across the sky in dramatic shapes, colors, patterns and sizes.

Click here for moreThe Northern Lights are visible from September through April but can only be seen on a clear night. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel this tour if the evening sky is heavily clouded or weather conditions are not favorable. A decision is taken daily at 6 pm whether the tour will take place or not. All hotels and booking agents in Reykjavik are informed by email about our decision so please contact the front desk of your hotel or the Tour Desk at hotel Saga, Loftleidir and Hilton to find out whether we will be operating the tour. Before we start this tour we always check the weather forecast around the south western part of Iceland. From experience, we decide where each journey will lead us, for the best possibilities to see the Northern Lights.

Please note:  We cannot guarantee sightings even if the tour is operated. In these cases we offer our customers a second tour free of charge. Please book the second tour by calling our tour desk at 540 1313.

Please note: Those that join the Northern Lights Mystery tour on 31 December may miss the fireworks in Reykjavik. The Northern Lights tour is a 3 to 5 hour tour and we cannot guarantee that we will be back in Reykjavik before midnight. If you do not want to miss the fireworks, please do not book this tour for 31 December!

It took more than 5 hours. If it was a bit shorter, it was better. --- Iceland Excursions: --- Thank you for your comment and review. The tour duration is of 3-5 depending on whether we see the Northern Lights early or perhaps not at all. Since this is natural occurrance we never know ahead of time how long the tour could last. The lights were seen on the night you went and we hope that you enjoyed the tour.

An amazing experience. We set off with clouds stretching from horizon to horizon, but the intrepid team of drivers and guides found the one clear patch of sky, where we experienced an incredible display. Highly recommended - and we learned a lot about Iceland on the way there and back.

i liked it very much. lovisa told us lots of interesting and funny things. only 4 stars because we didn't get a good look at the lights - not your fault of course, nature does what it wants!
