AH29  The Blue Lagoon All year round

Highlights
  • The Blue Lagoon
  • Roundtrip Transportation from Reykjavik (non-guided)

Tour description

The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in a vast lava field on Reyjanes Peninsula just 20 minutes from Keflavik international airport. Simmering around 37 to 39°C the Blue Lagoon's waters contain minerals and salts essential for wellbeing as well as an algae that stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production.

The Blue Lagoon offers variety of recreational options besides bathing in its milky blue waters. You can take a walk in the Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings, relaxing in a geothermal steam bath or release the stress from your shoulders under the Blue Lagoon's waterfall.

For a truly unique experience pamper yourself with an outdoor massage or one of the spa treatments available there. (We recommend booking the spa treatments well in advance by calling +354 4208800).

Panoramas IcelandOn site there is also a fantastic restaurant with a la carte menu and a Blue Lagoon shop, selling skin care products based on a unique blend of Blue Lagoon geothermal seawater active ingredients: minerals, silica, and algae.

Five  different departures from Reykjavík to choose from. We also offer complimentary pick up service from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Driving time to the Blue Lagoon takes around 50 minutes.

The Blue Lagoon is a pretty cool place, with the initial shock of being outside in (possibly) pretty cold conditions nicely counteracted by the warm water. This is just a bus ride there and back, with the option to pay your entrance fee as well. One minor annoyance about this is that the bus stopped at a lot of hotels on the way back to drop people off, which is great if you're one of those people, but less so if you just want to get back to the centre. This probably added around 30 minutes to the return trip, whereas in the morning everyone just departed from the centre (having already been picked up at their hotels by a minibus).

We really enjoyed our trip to the Blue Lagoon. The bus was on time, clean and comfortable. The Blue Lagoon itself is an amazing place, and certainly one that every visitor to Iceland should see - despite the steep entrance price! The only problem we had was that each visitor's white towel looked alike, resulting in towels going missing! The warmth of the lagoon was a marvellous antidote to the biting wind and sub-zero temperatures above the water! 4 star attraction.Best wishesVanessa

Had a throughly good day here at the Blue Lgoon. We had a really good meal at Blue Lagoon's Lava restaurant and then went into the lagoon. I don't want to give too much away but there are a lot of nice relaxation things to do and our group came away feeling very refreshed.

Highly recommended! A Gray Line shuttle picked us up at the ship for the short ride to the main bus terminal in the city, and then we boarded the bus to the Lagoon. Two hours was plenty of time for transportation and to enjoy the Lagoon. We also recommend upgrading one notch to include the robes, towel, beverage, and facial scrubs.

This was a reasonably enjoyable trip. It was nice to see the Blue Lagoon and the landscape along the way, but the price of admission is rather steep for what one gets. I'd have regretted not going and experiencing the lagoon, but I'd probably advise adding it on as a to/from airport trip if your itinerary allows.
