AH150  Taste the Saga All year round

Ölgerðin (e. The Brewery), Iceland’s oldest brewery invites you on a unique journey through the drinking saga. Taste the quirkiness of Iceland while listening to stories about the drinking culture as it once was in the past and is today.

Highlights:
  • Ölgerðin (e. The Brewery)

Tour Description:

Come take a look at the brewery, dive into the drinking habits and experience the Icelandic spirit, all in this one entertaining stop at Ölgerðin, their new and stylish headquarters in Reykjavík.
Our experienced host welcomes you with a smile and samples of our finest beverages. The tour lasts for 90 minutes and takes place in English every Friday and Saturday at 6pm.

What You Can Expect

Iceland's drinking history is quite quirky, to be honest. This is perhaps not surprising considering the majority of the Icelandic population still believes in elves...
Our host will give you a lesson in history like you‘ve never experienced before. If you‘re a good student we might even reward you with a shot of Brennivín, the original Icelandic schnaps.
You‘ll have a walking trip around the premises and most importantly get to taste award- winning products. The beverages are from our main brewery and also from Borg Brugghús, our craft brewery.
Our beers have received multiple international recognition so you‘re definitely in for a treat!

A Friendly Note:

Keen students are kindly asked not to study the drinking material thoroughly prior to embarking on the tour. We reserve the right not to serve severely intoxicated guests.
The tour is not appropriate for children as the legal drinking age in Iceland is 20 years and we are serving and enjoying alcoholic beverages.

Just got back to our hotel after this tour. Wow! You've got to do this tour if you have an evening spare. Our host Sylvia is completely nuts! Definitely need some of what she is drinking. Very informative but a great deal of fun along the way

I have been on manay, many brewery tours across the UK and also in Europe, Canada, US & India. However, for entertainment value this was far away the best I've ever been on! In terms of the technical detail you get with most brewery tours, this was brief and to the point and in fact quite short. However, where it excelled was in the storytelling, the engagement and the practical exercises involving BEER! The host Olaf (a girl) was simply excellent. Entertaining, occasionally laddish, but extremely informed and engaging. She made the whole session what it was. This was my second year in a row I've been to Reykjavik at Xmas and if I go back next year, this will be top of my list to go again. THIS IS A MUST DO TRIP IN REYKJAVIK CANNOT RECOMMEND MORE HIGHLY.

A great time was had by all. This brewery knows how to host its guests. The brewery is small by world standards. The beer is superb. I learned a lot. The testing glass was bottomless. (eat before the tour.) We made some great friends over great beer. at the end, we had the driver deliver us to a local club afterwards. .

Easter in Iceland is both a religious holiday and a sign that winter is over.
